Cariloha is the only retailer in the Hawaiian Islands selling exclusively clothing, bedding and bath goods made from bamboo.
LAHAINA, MAUI, HAWAII – With more than 1 million private businesses in the Hawaiian Islands, Cariloha is the only one that offers an entire store experience that revolves completely around bamboo-based merchandise. Cariloha’s hats, shirts, polos, dresses, shorts, skirts, socks, bed sheets, bath towels, jewelry and more are all made from unique bamboo blends.
This week, Cariloha opened its newest retail store in the city of Lahaina on the island of Maui. The new 800-square-foot store is corporately owned and is situated on Front Street across the street from chain restaurant, Cheeseburger in Paradise. The Cariloha store shares the same square footage as its sister brand, Del Sol, which specializes in clothing and accessories that change colors with sunlight.
At present, Cariloha can now be found in the following three locations on the Hawaiian Islands: Kauai, Kona (Waikoloa’s Kings’ Shops), and Maui. Another Cariloha store is slated to open on the island of Oahu later this year.
“This new Cariloha store is going to be a successful location for us,” said Scott Brady, Assoc. VP of Communications. “We’ve been pursuing a great location on Front Street in Lahaina for years, and having it come to fruition will provide our customers with a first-class ticket into the world of Cariloha.”
The Cariloha Lahaina store will be staffed and managed by both local employees and corporately hired interns, who will work in the store for three to six months. Staffers encourage store visitors to touch and feel the bamboo-soft difference of their clothing, bed sheets, bath towels, blankets, socks and more that are all made from bamboo.
Bamboo apparel features several qualities that make it a superior fabric. It’s twice as soft to touch as cotton and keeps you a few degrees cooler. It’s naturally hypoallergenic and helps prevent skin odor and skin irritation, which comes in really handy on a hot day at the beach.
“When you think of bamboo, large green shoots in the jungle somewhere likely come to mind,” said Jeff Pedersen, Cariloha President and CEO. “Not many people know that bamboo can actually be husked and separated into ultra-soft fabric for making apparel and other goods at little-to-no risk on the environment. In fact, some species of bamboo can grow up to 4 feet per day. It’s one of the most renewable resources on the planet.”
Established in 2007, Cariloha is the only retailer in the world to provide an entire store experience that’s completely outfit with merchandise made of bamboo. The product line features an exclusive collection of apparel, accessories, bedding and bath goods and more all made from bamboo. Cariloha’s soft, breezy bamboo goods were first sold in three, full stores in Ocho Rios, Jamaica; Cozumel, Mexico; and St. Thomas, USVI. Since the first three stores in 2008, Cariloha has already opened stores in 12 countries and continues to grow. Cariloha has quickly become one of the fastest-growing merchants promoted on board Carnival, Celebrity, Disney, Princess, Royal Caribbean and Norwegian Cruise Lines. Today, thanks to an ever-growing, rich supply of bamboo, Cariloha continues to offer an exclusive collection of products, all enjoying the strength, soft touch, and green ‘footprint’ of this renewable resource.
