International retailer, Cariloha, opens in Lihue on July 3, 2014, selling exclusively clothing, bedding and bath goods made from sustainable bamboo.
KAUAI, HAWAII, July 3, 2014 – Cariloha announces the opening of its second store on Kauai. The newest Cariloha will be opening in Lihue at the Anchor Cove Shopping Center. Located adjacent to the Marriott Kalapaki Beach Resort, JJ’s Broiler Restaurant, and the cruise ship terminal, the new Cariloha store will be the only retail store in Lihue exclusively selling clothing, bedding, active wear, and bath goods made from eco-friendly bamboo.
Cariloha Anchor Cove store owners, Chris and Stephanie Davis, who also own and operate the Cariloha store in the Poipu Shopping Village in Poipu, initially became aware of Cariloha while on a cruise in the Southern Caribbean and first visited the Cariloha store in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico.
“Anchor Cove is a natural fit for Cariloha because of its proximity to the cruise port,” said the Davises. We saw the opportunity to move into a great location that would allow us to cater to the cruise and local demographic, and we took it. With this store being our second location on Kauai, we look forward to expanding our ability to provide Lihue tourists and locals a unique, eco-friendly shopping option that fits perfectly in the islands.”
All Cariloha store guests receive a free bamboo lei just for stopping by the store so that everyone can share in the bamboo, eco-friendly experience. Even though the store is located near the Nawiliwili cruise port, the Davises welcome all locals to experience their crazy-soft Cariloha bamboo products and are happy to provide a Kama’aina discount to all island residents.
Cariloha staffers encourage visitors to touch and feel the bamboo-soft difference of their shirts, bed, sheets, towels, and hand bags for themselves. Bamboo apparel contains several qualities that are much better than other fabrics. Bamboo is twice as soft to the touch as cotton; it keeps you up to 3 degrees cooler than cotton; bamboo is naturally odor resistant, hypoallergenic and moisture wicking, which comes in really handy on a hot, humid day.
“When you think of bamboo, large green shoots in the jungle somewhere likely come to mind,” said Jeff Pedersen, Cariloha Founder and CEO. “Not many people know that bamboo can actually be husked and separated into ultra‐soft fabric for making apparel and other goods at little‐to‐no risk to the environment. In fact, some species of bamboo can grow up to 4 feet per day. It’s one of the most renewable resources on the planet.”
Established in 2007, Cariloha is the only retailer in the world to provide an entire store experience that’s completely outfit with merchandise made of bamboo. The product line features an exclusive collection of apparel, accessories, bedding and bath goods and more all made from bamboo. Cariloha’s soft, breezy bamboo goods were first sold in three, full stores in Ocho Rios, Jamaica; Cozumel, Mexico; and St. Thomas, USVI. Since the first three stores in 2008, Cariloha has already opened stores in 13 countries and continues to grow. Cariloha has quickly become one of the fastest-growing merchants promoted on board Carnival, Celebrity, Disney, Princess, Royal Caribbean and Norwegian Cruise Lines. Today, thanks to an ever‐growing, rich supply of bamboo, Cariloha continues to offer an exclusive collection of products, all enjoying the strength, soft touch, and green ‘footprint’ of this renewable resource.
